#1

During my senior year at my high school I decided that I would go out for football, even though I’m really not that good. I went to almost all the practices and morning lifting. I knew that I wouldn’t get much playing time before I even stepped on to the field but I gave every practice my all and the underclass-men followed my example and gave the first string a run for their money.
I got more playing time than I expected, I was on a very talented team so the coach was able to put in almost all of the players. I played mostly on special teams like the kick off team and punt return team. With my lack of experience I was very happy with the amount of playing time I got. I was happy just to be part of the team.
One night we were doing extremely well in the game and the coach decided to let everyone play positions they had no experience in. I got put in as a running back that night. I had never practiced the position; I had never even expected to ever tough the ball during a game. The quarterback called the play and a few seconds later I realized that I wasn’t going to be the leading blocker; I was going to run the ball. I ran the ball two or three times that night for a total of eight yards, I even got a first down before time ran out. Even though I only got eight yards that night I felt like king of the world, it’s something I will never forget.
To have a successful first semester I know that I will have to give every day my all and never slack off in class. Even though I don’t really understand the flow of college yet I have to keep studying even when I don’t want to that way when the ball comes my way I will be able to score.
